During the course of the year, RISING STARS holds various events individually and in partnership with major sponsors, to raise awareness about its programs and the impact on our young Rising Stars. The events bring communities together for friend-raising and fundraising to sustain and expand Rising Stars of Americas programs.

This afternoon will bring campers friends and families together for a leisurely afternoon of games and activites, food mingling with All Stars, and FUN!
LEXUS CHALLENGE
February 17, 2011 LEXUS and Baron Davis formed an exciting partnership to raise money for Rising Stars of America. Baron challenged celebrities and athletes via Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, and by personal invitation to come out and drive the new Lexus CT 200h through a vigorous obstacle course in a parking lot adjacent to the Staples Center. The prize for the fastest time was a one-year lease of the new Lexus 200CT Hybrid or the value donated to charity. It was a close finish but Hill Harper (Actor - CSI NY), squeaked in with the fastest time with Terrell Owens (Bengals) and Troy Nolan (Texans) close second and third. Among those testing their competitive driving skills were NBA players, NFL players, actors, radio personalities, including Andre Berto, Ben Lyons, Boris Kodjoe, Dule Hill, DJ Skee, Gene Simmons, Jesse Metcalfe, John Salley, Lamar Woodley, Michael Strahan, Terrell Owens, Willie McGinest, Austin Daye, Craig Smith, Terence Newman, Jaleel White and our own Rising Stars of America kids.

1ST ANNUAL RISING STARS OF AMERICA ALL STAR KICKBALL GAME AND EVENT

Campers and their families enjoyed delicious food from Taco Man and Lets Have a Cart Party along with King Kone ice cream treats, activities and games from Party Layne and the Game Truck, mingling with their coaches, NBA players, former Rising Stars and other celebrity guests, and being among the first to see the new line of Baron Davis Li Ning shoes and apparel.
The culminating headliner was the 1st Annual All Star Kickball Game with Barons friends and colleagues, including, , Matt Barnes, CJ Watson, Jarron Collins, Jason Collins, Ben Lyons, Jason Hart, Earl Watson, DJ Skee, Rasual Butler, Craig Smith, Jessica Alba, Rebecca Marshall, Drew Carter, Tayshaun Prince, and JA Adande.
Spectators lounged in the Apoko section and grandstands while John Salley provided a play by play of the game. It was closely contested, but Barons team pulled ahead in the last inning by one point earning the 1st Annual All Star Kickball Championship bragging rights.
